AI for work that
must stay private.
Veil is a complete private AI suite: chat, dictation and coding that run on your computer, sealed off from the internet, and web search that goes anonymously through Tor, only when you allow it.
The supplier can end the agreement on 90 days' notice. You can end it on 30 days' notice only after a material breach. Three points stand out:
- Clause 14.2 lets the supplier keep prepaid fees on early exit (page 9).
- There is no cap on the price increase at renewal (14.5, page 10).
- Data return after termination isn't covered at all.
Cloud AI runs on someone else's computers.
When you use cloud AI services such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or Google Gemini, what you type and upload is processed on the provider's servers, under the provider's terms. For anyone bound by professional secrecy, an NDA or data-protection law, that has to be assessed and explained.
With Veil, the AI model runs on your computer. Your chats, recordings and files are processed there, and Veil doesn't send them to us or to any AI provider.
Everything you use AI for. On your own computer.
Ask, draft, summarize, translate.
Leading open models (Qwen, Gemma, Mistral, gpt-oss) answer right on your PC. Attach PDFs, Word documents and images: Veil reads them inside its sandbox, and they never leave your PC.
Speak instead of typing.
Your voice is turned into text on your PC, in many languages. Recordings stay in memory and are never saved or sent.
A coding assistant in a locked room.
It reads, writes and runs code in your Projects folder, inside a Windows sandbox with no network and no access to your other files.
Look things up without being seen.
Turn on web search and Veil connects through Tor, so websites don't see your address. Before each search, Veil shows you the exact words and waits for your OK (you can switch that off).
The AI you can use with client work.
If your work carries a duty of confidentiality, Veil lets you use AI without handing your clients' information to an AI provider. You can tell clients and auditors where their data is processed: on your own computer.
Veil is a tool for your work. You remain responsible for your professional and data-protection obligations, and for checking the AI's answers before you rely on them.
A coding agent for code that can't leave the building.
Veil Code plans, edits, runs and tests code like other AI agents. The difference is where it runs: inside a Windows sandbox with no network and no access to your files outside the Projects folder. If a malicious file tricks the agent, it has no connection to send anything through, and every web search waits for your approval.
No way out for your code.
Commands, scripts and the apps it builds are blocked from the internet, your network and other programs. A Windows security boundary enforces this, and Veil tests it on your PC.
You see every query first.
The agent can ask to search the web, through Tor. Each request shows you exactly what it wants to look up, and nothing goes out until you allow it.
Run it and try it.
Start web apps in their own terminal tabs and preview them inside Veil. Common delete commands ask before they run, and your Projects folder is in Veil's daily encrypted backup.
Don't take our word for it.
Every privacy app says it respects your privacy. Veil is built so you can check it yourself, with tools we don't make and can't influence.
Unplug the internet.
Once your AI models are downloaded, disconnect Wi-Fi or the cable, then chat, dictate and code. Everything keeps working, because only web search needs the internet.
Block it in Windows.
In Windows Defender Firewall's outbound rules, the group "Veil offline" blocks every Veil program. Only three may go online: Tor, its bridge helper and Veil Downloader. Block those three yourself, and chat, dictation and coding keep working. Veil runs without administrator rights, so it can't undo your rules.
Watch the connections.
Use Microsoft's TCPView, Resource Monitor or your router's log. With web search off and no download running, Veil makes no internet connections. With search on, you'll only see encrypted Tor traffic.
Built in as well: Veil's privacy check (Settings › Privacy) runs nearly 100 tests on your PC, from the firewall rules to a live search, and shows every result. It's a convenient health check. For proof that doesn't depend on Veil, use the three tests above.
Off by default. Anonymous when on.
Sometimes the AI needs a fact from the web. Veil fetches it through its own copy of Tor, so the websites you reach don't learn your address.
Buy it once. Use it for as long as you like.
No subscription to us and no account. Your license is a small file that Veil checks on your PC, never online.

Questions
Does anything I type leave my computer?
Not through Veil, unless you use web search. The AI model runs on your PC and your chats are stored in a file on your PC. When web search is on, Veil first shows you the words the AI wants to search for, and sends them anonymously through Tor only if you allow it. Veil also connects out when you download a model, after telling you.
Is Veil compliant with GDPR or HIPAA?
Compliance depends on how an organization uses its tools, so no software makes you compliant by itself. Because Veil processes everything on your computer and sends nothing to us or to an AI provider, your data-protection assessment is much simpler. Your device still needs the usual protection, such as disk encryption and a locked screen.
Can the AI make mistakes?
Yes. Like every AI, Veil can give wrong or incomplete answers. Use it to draft, summarize and explore, and check its answers before you rely on them in your professional work.
Can you, the makers of Veil, see my data?
No. Veil has no servers, no accounts and no telemetry. It doesn't send us your chats, files or usage, so we have nothing to look at, sell or hand over.
Is a local AI as good as ChatGPT?
For everyday work like summarizing, drafting, translating, explaining and coding help, today's open models are very capable. The largest cloud models are still stronger at the hardest tasks. How well Veil runs depends on your graphics card, and Veil checks it before you choose a model.
Why does the installer ask for administrator rights?
To install Veil into Program Files and set up its protection: the firewall rules that block Veil from the internet, and the sandbox for Veil Code. Veil itself runs without administrator rights.
What is Tor, and do I need it?
Tor is a free, widely used privacy network that hides your address from the websites you visit. You only need it if you want web search. Without it, Veil works fully offline. Some countries restrict Tor, so check that it's allowed where you are before you turn web search on.
What happens to my data if I uninstall Veil?
Your Projects folder, your models and your encrypted backups are never touched. Your chats and settings stay too, unless you tick the box to delete them.
Is there a Mac or Linux version?
Not yet. Veil is available for Windows first. Mac and Linux versions are planned.
